Two Dads & Some Plastic Problems.
Meet Carl and Paul –– two self-proclaimed “dadtrepreneurs” (dad entrepreneurs) who want to change the world for generation alpha. When they looked around their kitchen cabinets and refrigerators, they realized that they were surrounded by single-use plastic bottles…. EVERYWHERE!
So, what do two dads do when they see a problem? Tackle it. Kapoww!! AWSM Sauce was born - its vision is to help remove single-use plastic from the kitchen and revolutionize the way sauces and condiments are made and enjoyed. The rest is history...or is it the future?
The modern-day Cam and Ferris (Ferris Beuller’s Day Off) - Carl and Paul’s entrepreneurial energy was magnetic from the time they first spoke. The duo met at Westtown School, where Paul served as Co-Athletic Director and Carl’s passion led him back to the lacrosse field. After countless “after-bedtime” phone calls and months in the test kitchen, they were able to develop a patent-pending “powder-to-pour” technology.
AWSM Sauce might just have what it takes to take on tackle the American sauce giants and make a positive impact on the big plastic industry. More about the always-laughing, matching-shoe-wearing, sauce-making dads below…
Paul Lehmann
Taller Co-Founder & COO
As the Cam of the duo, Paul Lehmann keeps the ship’s operations in check. There is no sauce packet that doesn’t have a home when Paul is in the office – he keeps tidy quarters and a zeroed-out inbox. There is also a very good chance that he holds the world record for steps taken during a phone call.
Paul grew up in the beautiful suburbs of Philadelphia with a soccer ball on foot. For college, he took his talents north to University of Rochester where he played NCAA soccer, studied Mechanical Engineering and made two very key decisions:
1. Put his name on the Eagles season ticket waitlist
2. Elected not to take an engineering job in a cubicle at Kodak after college.
Instead, Paul focused on team and the people that make them as a teacher, admin and coach. Not to mention his illustrious 20 year backyard bbq-ing career that is proving that his sauces are better than your sauce.

Carl Starkey
Co-Founder & CEO
As the Ferris of the duo, Carl Starkey keeps finding new territory for the ship to chart. Nothing can’t be measured – including Paul’s steps per phone call – data and analytics are strong-suits. He also has an uncanny ability to make connections that don’t exist and vet out every opportunity. It is also theorized that he has the best shoe collection in the office.
Carl grew up in the Midwest, kinda all over, he met his biological family late in life and moved frequently. For college, he also went north to St. Olaf College (MN) where he was a multi-sport athlete and studied Biology. After a failed sales job, he jumped into the entrepreneurial world starting a lacrosse stick manufacturing company called Redline Lacrosse.
Following the sport to Philadelphia, he eventually transitioned his team mentality from the field to the Tech world before getting lost in the sauce.

Dad Duties: Teague and Bucky – a 5 and 2 combo, who will either run around the world one day or be pro wrestlers
